Are you passionate about exploring nature, staying active, and creating lasting memories? Look no further! Amber Valley hosts an exciting annual walking festival that celebrates the beauty of our surroundings while promoting a healthy lifestyle.

Embark on guided walking tours that lead you through the most scenic routes our region has to offer. From lush forests to rolling hills, picturesque meadows, and winding canals, you'll be captivated by the diverse landscapes that surround us.

Whether you're an experienced hiker or just starting to explore the joys of walking, our festival welcomes participants of all ages and fitness levels. Choose from a variety of trails, ranging from leisurely strolls suitable for families to more challenging routes for seasoned adventurers.

The walking festival isn't just about the scenery; it's an opportunity to connect with our vibrant local community. Along the way, you'll have the chance to engage with friendly locals and learn about the area's history and traditions.

As lovers of nature, we are committed to preserving our environment. The festival follows eco-friendly practices to ensure minimal impact on the natural surroundings. We encourage participants to respect nature, dispose of waste responsibly, and leave only footprints behind.

The Autumn Footprints Walking Festival has been running since 2002 - so this year we are celebrating its 21st year! This is a fantastic collaboration of local groups (walking, history, and wildlife groups), Amber Valley Borough Council, Derbyshire County Council, and Groundwork Five Counties.

All the walks are led by knowledgeable local volunteers and staff to give a great choice of free guided walks over a two-week period in September. This year the festival runs from Saturday 9 through to Sunday 24 September 2023. Mark your calendars and don't miss out on this fantastic opportunity to experience the beauty of our area and make new friends who share your love for the great outdoors.
